Changes to Beavers, Tauros sports schedules

The Minot State men’s basketball team has canceled its upcoming two-game home series against Minnesota Duluth.

According to the msubeavers.com website, the change was made out of an abundance of caution based on COVID-19 protocols within the UMD program. The two-game series, originally scheduled for Jan. 8 and 9, will not be made up.

Instead, the MSU men’s team will travel to Marshall, Minnesota, where they are scheduled to play Southwest Minnesota State for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday. The contest on Friday is set to begin at 5 p.m., and Saturday’s matchup is slated for a 2 p.m. start time. This will be the second consecutive weekend in which MSU will play against Southwest Minnesota.

Meanwhile, the Minot Minotauros have announced changes to their schedule as well. Minot’s two-game road set against against St. Cloud, originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, will not be played. The Minotauros also cited coronavirus-related concerns as the reason for the change. Minot instead plans to host the Kenai River Brown Bears at the Maysa Arena for a pair of games on Jan. 15 and 16. Both games slated for an 8:05 p.m. start time.
