Beulah boys, Drake girls among Friday night winners

MHS gymnastics places fifth in Mandan

The Drake-Anamoose lady Raiders defeated TGU in a nailbiter, 54-52. Riley Hauff led the Raiders in scoring with 16 points, followed closely by her teammate Hailey Fletschock’s 15. Taryn Sieg also contributed 11 points in the winning effort. On the other side, Elise Fahnestock scored a game-high 17 points, and Grace Schmitt put up 15 on five three-pointers.

The Beulah-Hazen boys routed over Richardton-Taylor 70-23, led by 18 points from Trey Brandt, the most of any player. Dawson Zuroff also scored 15 for the second-most of his squad. For R-T, Colten Krank led his team with 11 points.

The Des Lacs-Burlington girls triumphed over Berthold by a 60-38 final score. Brooklyn Benno scored 19 points to lead her team to victory, and Shelby Ruden’s 12 points were good for second-most. Ashley Seaver led Berthold in scoring with 12 points, and Mya Neshem was right on her heels with 11.

Trenton rolled over North Shore Plaza 71-19. Four players reached double digits for Trenton: Raquel Archer (22), Jacee Turcotte (16), Alexa St. Pierce (15) and Malloree Falcon (11). Mandie Davison led NSP with 11 points. Meanwhile, Surrey narrowly won against South Prairie 47-44. Katheryn Aberle scored 13 points, followed by Melissa Dugan’s 10. For South Prairie, Ashlee Williamson scored 12 points, and MaKya Gerding added 10 more.

On the boys’ side, Divide County took down Tioga 57-26. Wyatt Carabello dominated, scoring 21 points. Max Dhuevetter contributed 17 in his team’s effort as well. Branssen Volz led Divide County with 8 points. Trenton completed the sweep of NSP 60-41. Caden Houle and Connor Smith tied for the team lead in scoring with 15 points each, and Chris Martinez scored 12 points.

TGU snagged the win 66-59 over Drake-Anamoose. Cy Luna exploded for 28 points, and Blake Latendresse scored 13 points. His brother, Bryce, also added 10 more. For D-A, Payton Martin scored 17, and Hunter Fletschock added 11. Matthew Jund also scored 10.

Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier edged Oakes 69-61, led by 25 points form Alex Huber. Chayse Entzi (16), Paxton Mathern (12) and Jorgen Paulson (10) also hit double digits for the Rebels. Garret Meehl had quite a night for the Tornadoes, scoring a whopping 30 points. Steele Hansen contributed 13 and Ashton Biesterfeld added 10 more as well.

In girls gymnastics, the Minot High School girls placed fifth in their meet in Mandan with a 120.225 final score. Haley Conklin led her team on the vault with a score of 8.675, and the bars with a 7.950. Pavyn Peterson followed closely behind on the vault with an 8.575, and on the bars with a 7.250.

On the balance beam, it was Peterson leading the way for Minot, scoring a 7.9 with Conklin hot on her trail with a 7.675 final score. Conklin placed ninth overall on the floor exercise with a 8.95, and Peterson finished second on the squad with an 8.3. Finally, Conklin again led Minot in the all-around, scoring a 33.25. Peterson came in with a 32.025 final tally.
