Four teams left in Class A football playoffs; TGU eliminated

On Saturday, it was the Velva Aggies (10-0) who cruised to a 33-0 home win over the Dickinson Trinity Titans to advance to the Class A semifinal round. Velva senior Gage Florence had a major impact in the ballgame, scoring four of the Aggies’ five touchdowns.

While Dickinson Trinity ends their season with a 7-3 overall mark, including a 1-1 record in postseason play, Velva is scheduled to travel to Lisbon to take on the 8-0 Broncos on Saturday, Nov. 7. Lisbon advanced to the semis by virtue of a 32-8 triumph over Grafton in their quarterfinal showdown on Saturday. In that game, Lisbon’s Jordan Sours notched three rushing touchdowns to help lead the Broncos to victory.

Also taking place this past weekend, the Bishop Ryan Lions (9-2) punched their ticket to the semifinals with a 19-7 road win over the Shiloh Christian Skyhawks. Like Dickinson Trinity, Shiloh Christian ends their 2020 campaign with a 7-3 record overall and a 1-1 mark in the playoffs.

Bishop Ryan will remain on the road to take on Langdon Area/Munich Cardinals (10-0) in their next contest scheduled for Nov. 7. The Cardinals reached the semis due to an Oakes forfeit in the quarterfinals.

In 9-man football, the TGU Pirates (5-5) saw their postseason run come to an end following a 34-0 loss at the hands of Linton/Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock on Saturday. Now 7-2 on the year, Linton is slated to take on Lamoure-Litchville-Marion Loboes (9-0) in the next round. On the other side of the bracket, the Cavalier Tornadoes (11-0) are scheduled to host the Beach Buccaneers (7-2) in the semifinals on Nov. 7.
