Minot girls XC place fourth at WDAs, boys take seventh

On Saturday, Oct. 10, both of Minot’s varsity cross country teams participated in the WDA Championships, which took place in Bismarck. While the Minot girls team finished up the competition in fourth, the boys squad earned seventh place.

On the girls side, Trinity Jessen was Minot’s fastest runner, taking fourth overall with a time of 18:54. The next fastest time for the Majettes came courtesy of Maicee Burke, who clocked in at nineteenth place with a time of 20:35. Meanwhile, Scout Ulrickson (21:10), MaLiah Burke (21:20) and Hyla Erickson (22:08) all represented Minot among the top 50 individually.

From the Minot boys contingent, Grant Schaeffer paced the club with a time of 17:51, good for 35th overall. Oscar Hultz was second among the Magicians, clocking in at 17:58, which put him in 38th place overall. Rounding out Minot’s top five performances, Jacob Hight (18:56), Bryce Rose (19:05) and Everett Aberle (20:13) all placed among the top 70.

Up next on the schedule, both cross country teams will travel to Jamestown for the Class A State Meet on Saturday, Oct. 24. The meet will take place at Jamestown’s Parkhurst Campground/Pipestem Reservior with limited attendance.
