Knights take down Panthers

Ciara Parizek/MDN ORCS setter Eden Olson (11) spikes the ball and the Glenburn Panthers are ready to respond.

The Glenburn Panthers volleyball team faced off against the Knights at Our Redeemer’s Christian School last night, and ORCS won 3-1.

The first set was won by the Knights. It went back and forth for a while, then ORCS pulled ahead for the win.

The second set was even closer. The girls on both teams really hustled to save the ball from hitting the floor. Several dives were made and the sound of their knees and elbows hitting the floor could be heard through the gym.

The Panthers and Knights were tied at the beginning of the set. McKenna Rolland from Glenburn scored a point by a well placed kill, almost tying it up again to 13-12.

Like a sleeper cell, the Panthers made a great start to the third set and won by two points.

Despite the loss, they had the drive and desire to get better as the game progressed.

Glenburn senior McKenna Rolland had 18 digs and eight assists. Junior Lorelei McIver led with nine kills and four blocks.

ORCS junior Eden Olson had a team-high of 27 assists and 21 digs. The highest amount of kills was taken by Sydney Popinga.

The ORCS Knights will be playing at 7 p.m. On Thursday in Berthold.

The Glenburn Panthers’ next game is at 2 p.m. Saturday in Ray.
