Minot High tops Williston in tennis

The Minot High boys tennis team defeats the Williston Coyotes 8-1, winning all six single matches and two out of three double matches.

Zach Diehl won his match against Colby Nehring from WIlliston, “avenging an earlier loss,” the final set scores coming to 5-7, 6-4, and 6-1. His younger brother Aidan Diehl won both of his sets against Williston’s Braylon Higgs, 6-0.

Zach Diehl partnered with Ridge Jaeger in doubles, winning over Nehring and Mason Haugenoe, the final set scores being 6-1 and 6-3.

Aidan Diehl and Colby Opp bested Braylon Higgs and Kade Elwess from Williston in doubles 6-0 and 6-1.

“I was very pleased with the way our singles came out today as it was as focused of an effort 1-6 as we’ve had in a while,” head coach Scott DeLorme said. “When we get six guys focused, we have very good balance between top guys and depth and that could be a big factor going forward with tournament play only a week away.”

The Magi will play at 4 p.m. tomorrow evening in Jamestown, wrapping up their regular season schedule.
