Vistas drop 9-1 decision to Bismarck Governors

BISMARCK — The Bismarck Governors jumped on the Minot Vistas in the early stages of Thursday night’s nine-inning game at Haaland Field. After the Governors scored three runs in the second inning, the home team never relinquished the lead.

The Vistas finished with just four hits in the 9-1 contest. Bismarck continued to plate runs throughout the game.

After adding another run in the third inning, the Governors scored two in the fifth. One run in the seventh preceded two more in the eighth.

In total, Bismarck finished with 11 hits for the evening. Governors leadoff hitter Colton Schulte produced a 2-for-5 performance with an RBI and two runs scored.

Skyler Riedinger also enjoyed a successful day at the dish. Riedinger accentuated his 2-for-3 game with an RBI and two runs scored.

Vistas infielder Logan Merck recorded the visitors’ only multi-hit game. Merck went 2-for-4 at the plate in the loss. Fellow infielder Jack Plemel finished the game 1-for-3 with a run scored.

The Vistas will travel to Pierre, S.D. for a two-game series starting on Monday, July 6. First pitch is TBD.
