Sabre Dogs salvage series, defeat Moo 2-1

FREMONT, Neb. — After losing two contests against the Fremont Moo, the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs bounced back and earned a 2-1 win on Wednesday evening.

The Sabre Dogs (6-6) and Moo (9-4) scored one run apiece in the second inning. Tim Conway smashed Souris Valley’s first solo shot of the night in the top of the frame.

In the top of the fifth inning, Josh Solomon provided the go-ahead home run for the Sabre Dogs. Solomon and Mason Dinesen finished their nights 2-for-4 at the plate.

Three hurlers provided boosts to the Sabre Dogs’ pitching staff. Matt Houlihan, Austin Glaze and Tanner Riley allowed just four hits.

In three innings of work, Glaze struck out five Fremont batters. He also walked one hitter and allowed just one hit in the win.

Riley captured the save after racking up three strikeouts in two innings of work. Riley also allowed one hit.

Souris Valley’s road trip continues this evening. The Sabre Dogs will meet the Hastings Sodbusters for the first time this season at 7:35 p.m. this evening.
