Sabre Dogs fall 11-1 to Big Sticks

DICKINSON — On Thursday evening, the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs (2-4) and Badlands Big Sticks (4-2) faced off and continued their budding rivalry. The Big Sticks used a late rally to cement a decisive 11-1 victory.

Badlands enjoyed a hot start. Clayton Hale’s RBI single brought the game’s first run home in the first inning. In the third inning, Wyatt Setian drove a two-run home run out of the park.

Braden Cordes added another RBI single in the fourth inning. Cordes scored after an error on Cadyn Schwabe’s single.

The Big Sticks held a 5-0 lead after four innings, but the Sabre Dogs got a run back in the top of the fifth. Josh Solomon brought home Ivan Prejan with an RBI single.

Logan Williams ripped an RBI triple in the sixth inning. Two Badlands runs came home on a wild pitch and a passed ball in the bottom of the eighth.

Conner VanCleave added even more insurance with a three-run homer in that inning.

The Big Sticks polished off the 11-1 win with a scoreless ninth.

Souris Valley will open a three-game series against the Western Nebraska Pioneers at 7:05 p.m. this evening at Corbett Field.
