Moo maneuver past Sabre Dogs 10-5

FREMONT, Neb. — The best team in the Clark Division mowed down the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs for a second straight night.

The Fremont Moo (9-3) notched their fourth straight win with a 10-5 victory over the Sabre Dogs (5-6) Tuesday evening. Souris Valley entered the three-game road series after sweeping a home weekend series against the Western Nebraska Pioneers.

Now, they are on the verge of getting swept themselves.

The Moo jumped out to a 6-0 lead on Tuesday with four runs in the third inning and two more in the fourth.

The Sabre Dogs cut the deficit in half with three runs in the fifth inning. Wilson Roubion and Justin Cooper each provided RBI singles and Cal Villareal added an RBI fielder’s choice.

Slowly but surely, Fremont kept growing its advantage. The deficit ballooned to 10-3 after the seventh inning, which included a deflating solo home run by Taylor Howell.

Souris Valley tried to make things interesting late with Tim Conway scoring on an error in the eighth, and they loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth. A bases-loaded walk to Nik Levensteins plated one run, but Mason Turner grounded out into a double play to end the last-ditch rally and the affair at 10-5.

The final game of the series is set for 7:05 p.m. this evening in Fremont.
