Fremont Moo rally late, take 9-8 victory over Sabre Dogs

FREMONT, Neb. — Fresh off a series sweep of the Western Nebraska Pioneers, the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs (5-5) faced off against the Fremont Moo (8-3) in a cross-division contest on Monday evening.

The teams’ first meeting of the season provided plenty of drama. The Moo earned a 9-8 victory on a walk-off wild pitch.

Fremont’s Luke White brought home Ronnie McBride with an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning. The game was scoreless until the fourth inning, but the Moo added two more runs on a double and a single.

Mason Dinesen engineered a three-run rally in the top of the fifth inning. The Sabre Dogs capitalized on the momentum and tied the game at 3-3.

The Moo got two runs back in the bottom of the fifth before scoring another run in the sixth. Wilson Roubion, Tim Conway and Nik Levensteins came around to score for Souris Valley in the top of the seventh.

Owen Bischoff ripped a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh, but the Sabre Dogs tacked on two runs in the top of the eighth. A balk and a wild pitch did the trick for the visitors to tie the score again at 8-8.

However, Fremont loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth. With two outs, Cooper Morrison came home on a wild pitch by Sabre Dogs pitcher Dylan Roach.

The squads will meet again at 7:05 p.m. this evening in Fremont.
