Strong start to the spring season for MSU women’s golf

LAS VEGAS — The Minot State women’s golf team won its first two tournaments of the spring season in Las Vegas this past weekend.

The Beavers hosted the sixth annual MJGA Invitational at the Aliante Golf Course on March 6-7 and then competed in the Winona State Vegas Invite at the Stallion Mountain Golf Club on March 9-10.

MSU shot rounds of 322 and 335 to win the MJGA Invitational. Senior Alexandra Demko led the way by shooting 72 and 80 to win individual medalist honors. Miriam Dumes (eight) and Katherine McGlenen (ninth) also finished inside the top 10 for the Beavers.

In the Winona State Vegas Invite, MSU shot a school-record round of 299 to secure another first-place finish. Demko took second place individually with rounds of 76-74, and Dumes slotted into fourth place with 83-74.

The Minot State men’s team also competed in the same tournaments. The Beavers finished 10th as a team in the MJGA Invitational with former Minot High state champion Cody Reynolds posting a team-leading score of 10-over par to tie for 19th place.

No information was available on the men’s results at the Winona State Vegas Invite.
