Fargo Shanley’s Reile Payne wins Miss Basketball crown

After a historic senior season, Fargo Shanley’s Reile Payne was named as North Dakota’s Miss Basketball. Payne posted a double-double average for the season, tallying 20.4 points and 11.2 rebounds per game.

Additionally, Payne averaged 3.5 assists and 6.2 steals. The Shanley guard received 56 points and 10 first-place votes.

Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich’s Callie Ronnigen finished in second place with 42 points and three first-place votes, while Devils Lake’s Jes Mertens received 34 points and three-first place votes for third place.

Minot High senior Allie Nelson was named as a finalist but did not receive any votes. Nelson averaged 16.7 points and 6.5 rebounds this season.
