MSU MBB ends regular season with 67-53 loss at Northern State
ABERDEEN, S.D. — The Minot State men’s basketball team tied its season-low with only 53 points scored in the Beavers’ final game of the regular season.
NSIC North Division regular-season champions Northern State (22-6, 18-4 NSIC) won the defensive affair 67-53 over the Beavers (10-18, 4-18 NSIC) on Saturday evening in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
MSU’s largest lead in the contest was four points, 11-7, and the Beavers led for the final time at 19-18 halfway through the first half.
The Wolves limited the Beavers to 41.7% from the floor and grabbed 10 more rebounds (35-25).
MSU forward Kody Dwyer was the most effective offensively with 18 points off 8-for-10 shooting. Kyle Beisch made four 3-pointers for 12 points. Max Cody added 8 points and seven assists.
Northern State had three players each attempt 10 field goals and finish in double figures: Gabe King (20), Mason Stark (16) and Parker Fox (11).
MSU will be the North Division No. 8 seed in the NSIC Tournament. The Beavers will travel to South Division No. 1-seeded Sioux Falls (21-7) for first-round action on Wednesday.
Tipoff will come after the MSU women’s postseason game, which is also against Sioux Falls. The women are scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start with the men to follow at 7:30 p.m.
The MSU men’s team lost to Sioux Falls last year in the first round of the NSIC Tournament, 96-51.
The last time the Beavers made it to the Sanford Pentagon for the NSIC Tournament quarterfinals was the 2017-18 season.
