Sabre Dogs drop road game to Whiskey Jacks
BRANDON, Manitoba — The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs fell to the Wheat City Whiskey Jacks on Tuesday, 5-2, in Brandon, Manitoba.
Coming into the contest, the Sabre Dogs had won six out of its last eight games.
The Sabre Dogs took a 2-0 lead on Tuesday with a run in the top of the first inning and a Whiskey Jacks error provided another run in the fourth inning.
A four-run bottom of the fourth inning, however, by the Whiskey Jacks made all the difference. Their runs came via a bases loaded walk, RBI single and a pair of errors.
Wheat City added one more run in the seventh inning for good measure.
Sabre Dogs starting pitcher Zavian Caldwell was issued the loss after going 3 1/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) off three hits.
Five Souris Valley players collected two hits: Phillip Childs, Mason Dinesen, Bo McClintock, Sam Powers and Wilson Roubion.
McClintock and Powers each had doubles, while Jase Edwards recorded a triple.
For Wheat City, Colton Charnholm threw five innings to pick up the win. Christian Arias went four innings to earn a lengthy save.
The Sabre Dogs look to regroup with another game against the Whiskey Jacks at 7:05 p.m. this evening.
