Jaxon Gunville verbally commits to Minot State basketball

Upcoming Minot High School senior Jaxon Gunville wasted no time letting his intentions be known over the weekend, as he announced his verbal commitment via Twitter to play for the Minot State men’s basketball team following the conclusion of his final year with the Magicians.

The 6-foot guard thrived as one of the focal points in the Magi’s offense last season. Gunville averaged a team-high 17.3 points per game while also contributing 4.7 boards and 1.1 steals per contest.

The then-junior established himself as a sharpshooter from 3-point range in the process, drilling 73 triples on 177 attempts (41.2 percent).

Gunville’s breakthrough season didn’t go unnoticed, as he earned a spot on the All-WDA team after leading the Magi to the semifinals of the West Region Tournament.

Because Gunville is in the class of 2020, he must wait until November to officially sign with the Beavers.
