Berglof commits to Dakota College at Bottineau

After a year removed from team basketball, Mikalyn Berglof is returning to the hardwood.

The 2018 Nedrose graduate is continuing her basketball career, as she committed to play for the Dakota College at Bottineau Lumberjacks on Friday. Berglof took a year off from school to figure out what she wanted to major in, but now the former high school standout is ready to pick up where she left off.

“I just love basketball, so I thought ‘why not go through it in college?'” Berglof said. “It was always a dream of mine since I was five years old, so I’m excited.”

The 5-foot-6 guard/forward spent three seasons as a starter on Nedrose’s varsity team before her high school career came to an end on Feb. 11, 2018, with a 60-58 loss to TGU in the District 11 tournament’s region qualifying game.

Berglof intends on majoring in health professions to eventually become a sports trainer.

“I want to work around sports,” Berglof said. “(DCB) is a small school where everybody knows everybody, so it just seems like a good community to be in.”
