New Town boys, DLBLC girls take first at NW Regional
On a chilly and windy Saturday, Minot High School’s Duane Carlson Stadium was buzzing with energy for the Class B track & field Northwest Region Meet. After Saturday’s events, teams and individuals will move on to the NDHSAA State Track and Field Meet starting Friday, May 24, at the Bismarck Community Bowl.
Boys
The New Town Eagles boys took first place Saturday with 116 points, followed by Des Lacs-Burlington/Lewis & Clark with 87 and Stanley with 74. Bishop Ryan took a close fourth with 73 points.
In the 100-meter sprint, Stanley’s Steffen Dauwalder took second with 11.03 seconds followed by Bishop Ryan’s Rubensky Lormejuste 11.68 seconds. In fourth place was Garrison/Max’s Jackson Rensch.
Dauwalder then went on to take first in the 200-meter sprint with a 22.63.
New Town’s Francis Short Bull and Robert White took third and fourth in the 400-meter run. Jaiven Hale and White took first and second in the 800-meter run with times of 2:02.26 and 2:04.72.
New Town also took second to fifth in the 1600. Ricardo Chase and Addison Red Fox of New Town took first and second in the 3200.
Garrison/Max’s Gage Yellowbird took first in the 110-meter hurdles with a 16.36 followed by Ethan Steckler of Bishop Ryan with a 18.18. Surrey’s Clay Kummer took first in the 300-meter hurdles with a 42.43 followed by DLBLC’s Darien Hauf with 43.51.
Bishop Ryan’s Ben Bohl took first in the long jump, followed by Jacob Gates of MLS in second and New Town’s Kaleb Foltyn. Ryan Feland of MLS took first in the triple jump, followed by Bishop Ryan’s Ben Bohl and Jaeger Lundeen in second and third.
Girls
Des Lacs-Burlington/Lewis & Clark girls took first Saturday with a final points total of 146, followed by Garrison/Max with 134 and Stanley with 67.
Garrison/Max claimed places first through fourth in the 100-meter dash. They also took second and third in the 200-meter dash.
Parshall’s Cedar Hall and Jalyn Hall took first and second in the 400-meter run with times of 1:00.88 and 1:01.02. Kenmare/Bowbells took places third through fifth.
DLBLC’s Kyley Lauf took first in the 800-meter run with a 2:30.02. Sara Bonn and Macey Moore took first and second at the 100-meter Hurdles with times of 17.14 and 17.61.
Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood’s Skylar McLain took first in shot put followed by DLBLC’s Chloe Gunderson. Gunderson went on to take first in the discus followed by Garrison/Max’s Haley Huesers in second.
