Minot State softball coach Kivett’s contract not renewed

Minot State Director of Athletics Andy Carter announced on Tuesday that head softball coach Dave Kivett will not return after two seasons at Minot State University.

“After a careful evaluation of the overall direction of the program, I felt it was best in the interest of the trajectory of our growth to find a better fit to lead our softball program,” said Carter. “We are fully committed to the success of our softball program and the experience of our student-athletes.”

In the two seasons, Kivett compiled a 51-47 overall record with two NSIC Tournament appearances while the Beavers broke over 20 Division II era school records.

The Beavers had four All-NSIC selections the last two seasons, including First Team All-Central Region honoree by both the NFCA and D2CCA, Tori Zimmermann.

A national search for the new head softball coach will begin immediately.
