Borst, Cervantes collect All-NSIC honors
BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Seniors Michael Borst and Jaymon Cervantes capped their final seasons in a Minot State baseball uniform earning All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference honors, the conference office announced Wednesday morning.
After two seasons as a Second Team All-NSIC selection, Borst was named First Team All-NSIC while Cervantes landed a Second Team All-NSIC selection.
Borst finished the regular season ranked in the top 10 in the NSIC in eight statistical categories. The McHenry, Illinois, native ranks second in RBI (56), on-base percentage (.498) and stolen bases (30) while fourth in batting average (.395) and doubles (15), seventh in slugging percentage (.592), ninth in hits (62) and 10th in runs scored (48).
Cervantes becomes the first Minot State pitcher to land on an All-NSIC team in program history. The Tuscon, Arizona, native notched a 7-1 record this season in 11 appearances, including nine starts. Cervantes tossed four complete-games while striking out 66 batters in 57.1 innings. He set the single-season wins record this season while also setting the DII career wins record at Minot State with a 13-1 mark as a Beaver.
