Beavers baseball falls to Augustana in NSIC Championship, 13-8

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – After surviving three loser-out games, the No. 4-seeded Minot State baseball team’s epic tournament run came to an end on Saturday with a 13-8 loss to No. 1-seeded Augustana in the NSIC championship.

The Vikings claimed early control in the game by jumping out to a 9-0 lead through five innings before the Beavers made their move in the sixth. Darrel Doll got the comeback started with a single that brought in two runs, and fellow seniors Wyatt Schlosser and Andrew Black each recorded RBI singles on the next two at-bats to trim the deficit to

9-4.

Minot State then got three unearned runs off a series of RBI groundouts and errors to cap off a seven-run inning that made it a 9-7 contest. But Augustana refused to break. Leading 10-8 in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Vikings added another three runs of insurance en route to the 13-8 victory.

Doll finished with two RBIs and one run on 1-for-5 hitting while fellow senior Michael Borst recorded one RBI, two runs and a homer on 1-for-4 hitting.

The Beavers finish the season with a record of 36-18 (24-10 NSIC).
