Minotauros fall to Aberdeen on the road, 5-2

ABERDEEN, SD – The Minot Minotauros kept pace for two periods but ultimately suffered a 5-2 road loss to the Aberdeen Wings on Friday.

After surrendering the lone goal of the first period, Minot quickly tied the score with a goal from Connor McGinnis (assisted by Keenan Lund and Andrew Kangas) in the third minute of the second period.

The Wings responded with their second goal of the night 14 minutes later to take a 2-1 lead at the break before Didrik Henbrant delivered the equalizer. Just over one minute into the third period, the forward collected a pass from McGinnis and placed it in the back of the net to make it a 2-2 affair.

It took just nine seconds for Aberdeen to respond, though, as the Wings got back on top with a quick goal from Jonathan Bendorf. The home team ultimately padded its lead with another two goals and played stout defense the rest of the way to earn the 5-2 win.

Aberdeen recorded 42 shots on goal to Minot’s 28. Nicholas Grabko finished with 37 saved in the losing effort.

The Minotauros will look to exact their revenge tonight at 7:15 p.m. when they play the Wings once more on the road.
