Minotauros drop nail biter to Wilderness, 5-4

Alex Eisen/MDN Minotauros forward Taylor Lantz (11) looks to make a pass Friday evening against the Minnesota Wilderness at Maysa Arena.

The Minot Minotauros (18-16-1) came up on the short end of the stick on Friday at home, falling by a score of 5-4 to the Minnesota Wilderness (20-13-1).

Minot looked to be in control early on thanks to a goal by Joseph Harguindeguy and another by Fritz Belisle, giving the Minotauros a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.

But that lead evaporated as the Wilderness launched a 4-0 run that started in the first minute of the second period and ended with just 16 minutes left in regulation.

A quick pair of goals in the next two minutes by Vince Marino and David Raisanen tied the score at 4-4, but Minnesota’s Luke Dow delivered the game-winning score with just under four minutes remaining to give the Wilderness the 5-4 victory.

Minot will look to exact some revenge tonight at 7:35 p.m. when it takes on the Wilderness once more at Maysa Arena.
