MSU volleyball falls to MSU Moorhead

MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minot State Beavers took their first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference loss Thursday against Minnesota State University Moorhead in Moorhead, Minn. The Beavers (5-4, 0-1 NSIC) fell 3-0 to the Dragons (5-3, 1-0 NSIC).

The lead changed twice in the first set, with the score tied on three different occasions. The Beavers lost a close first set 25-20. The second set belonged to the Dragons with only one tied score. The Dragons maintained control of the set and won 25-16.

Coming back hard, the third set showcased five different tied scores and two lead changes. The Dragons took the third set with a final score of 25-19 to take the game.

Junior outside hitter Shelby Spuller led the charge at the net for the Beavers with 18 kills, followed by Nicole Wondrasek and Emily Falldorf each with 4. Kelsey Dewulf, Karli Koza and Shelby Spuller each served up an ace for the team. Koza led the team in digs with 11. Senior setter Dewulf racked up 29 assists for the Beavers.

The Beavers return to the court at 2 p.m. Saturday for a home matchup agianst Northern University at the Minot State University Dome.
