ND Cowboy Hall of Fame reaches statewide, other states

MEDORA — The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame has nearly 1,000 members statewide including in several states.

In 2022, N.D. Cowboy Hall of Fame will induct its 27th class in the Hall. The deadline for submissions is Dec. 15. Ten individuals will be inducted in nine categories. Nomination forms. video tutorials and details of the nomination process, can be found online at northdakotacowboy.com or call the NDCHF office in Medora at 623-2000.

Each February, NDCHF members and trustees gather for their annual meeting including hearing testimonials by family members and friends about the nominees being considered for the Hall of Fame ballot. The 2022 annual meeting will be Feb. 11-13 in Valley City. The 2023 annual meeting has been scheduled for Feb. 17-19 at the Clarion Hotel in Minot. The annual induction ceremony is held in the summer in Medora.

In more recent years the organization has held a raffle to raise money for the organization. Sales of the tickets include at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot.

Winners of the raffle are selected during a drawing held at the Badlands Circuit Rodeo Finals in Minot.

NDCHF held Meet the Artist, an event with Artist Denise Semple of Sioux City, Iowa, on Oct. 20, 2021, at the NDCHF’s Center of Western Heritage & Cultures in Medora. Her painting of Sacagawea, the interpreter and guide for the Lewis and Clark expedition, was featured at the event. The meet and greet reception was the first of its kind for the NDCHF. Donations at the event will support the educational initiatives of the NDCHF’s center. Other events are being planned to encourage statewide interest in the center.
