Paul Thomas, Velva Having completed just two years in the ND House of Representatives I would like to share with you my perspective on what a two term, eight-year limit, on a Legislator in the ND House or Senate means for North Dakota citizens.  Approving term limits in North Dakota is limiting your rights as a citizen to choose and elect public officials you want to represent you and your district.  Your elected Representatives and Senator represent about 17,000 people.  This is a small number of people when compared to most states.  For those that care to be involved ...

2022 Hostfest was success

Duane Brekke, Minot I was very fortunate that as a baby I never fell out of my crib on the head — therefore I have never been negative. THE NORSK HOSTFEST IS BACK! We just completed a very successful festival! I can assure you that we will not be moving the Hostfest to Surrey, Simcoe or any other spot, even along the Red River. For those of us who love Minot and work to make it a better city — we couldn’t be happier with EPIC.

What if government stopped promoting

Eric Suwall Minot The MDN poll on 9.23 asks if the US government should get involved in promoting certain domestic industries. Unsurprisingly, a majority of respondents said ‘no’, the government should not get involved. It would be great if the MDN made this question more specific regarding the type of industries they had in mind, but given the political bent of the paper, I assume that the question is really asking if the Biden administration should promote green energy and chip manufacturing. Term limit measure clarified

Governor, Lloyd Omdahl, a measure on term limits for the Legislature and Governor was discussed.  A myriad of points was made, but one unfortunate error was also made.  Lt. Governor Omdahl was mistaken in his understanding that current legislators will continue to be able to serve an unlimited number of terms, as they are “grandfathered in.”   It should be clarified that current legislators and the current governor will be “grandfathered in” to the law as their past terms will not be counted.  ...
