Compromise needed on both sides of aisle

Gary Schell, Minot

Stop pointing fingers. It’s the fault of Democrats and Republicans. There is such a thing as compromise, step up and be the hero. But with bullies on both sides saying – If you don’t do what I want I’m not talking. Like kindergarten kids. How many times have you compromised with a neighbor, wife, family member or at work?

A main problem with Senators and Representatives is they have been in Washington D.C. too long and have hated a person from the other party for years. Any bill brought forward by their enemy is shot down. We the people sent them to Washington D.C. to do work for us, not for them to make the rules.

And quit this party voting. Maybe we just need 2 members in each house? (Proud of Fetterman voting with common sense. Way too many grumpy, old men and women. Vote them out and get new people with new ideas if you want the U.S. to grow.)

How many poor senators or representatives do you know? Their salary is $176,000 a year and with 40 years in, they are worth $7 million. Yet when they retire, they go back to their states as multimillionaires. They must get a special bonus for the extra millions.

With the shutdown, they continue to be paid. We need a bill for the people to vote on like: During Continuing Resolutions or gov’t shutdown the following people receive no pay or back pay until they do their job. This includes: president, vice president, all cabinet members, senators and representatives.

Starting at $2.99/week.
