Disappointed with loss of tradition
Sherry (Storbeck) Pederson, Alexandria, Minn.
With total disappointment, I’m letting the public know the decision that has been made to not go with the Minot High tradition of sitting in the numbers using maroon and gold gowns for the 2025 Graduation. This has been a tradition for over 45 years and a well respected one of the Minot High graduates.
With all the technology today, even with a smaller graduating class, I know that this can be accomplished. Parents and students were not even given the opportunity to vote or voice their opinions on this. I’m the grandmother of one of those graduates who had a special plan of 3 generations sitting in those numbers. I have called and voiced my opinion and was told I would get a return phone call from the superintendent and that hasn’t happened.
The solution I was given is they would Photoshop the 25 on the picture that would be hung in the school, which even made me more upset that they would be deceiving about the actual photo. Some traditions have special meaning and I believe this is one that is very meaningful to several past Minot High Magician graduates! Life nowadays is different in many ways and we need to hang on to special traditions that have made this school A Special and Proud School to graduate from!!
A disappointed grandma and 1977 Minot High School graduate.
