Remember 2012 in November

Steve Moen, Minot

In 2012 eliminating property tax failed, largely because of all the misinformation put out by people scared of change. How did that work out for you? My property tax doubled. For some it tripled and even quadrupled!

This was after the politicians promised to fix and lower it. The state pumped in $1 billion plus and it still went up. They’re promising the same this time. During the same time frame our state budget went from $4 billion to $19 billion. The money is there. Politicians are saying the state buy down is probably going away, which would raise our property tax 42%. They can do it as the buy down was passed by the legislature and what they give they can take away.

Also the Trump tax cuts expire in 2025, which will raise everyone’s federal income tax 20%, which in turn would raise our state income tax 20%. This is our 1776 moment. Will we vote for tax freedom or bend our knee and remain tax slaves so the Keep it Local bunch, many who are violating North Dakota Century Code 16.10-1&2 by being against Measure #4 (entities funded by taxes have to be neutral), just so they can keep their hands in the cookie jar and steal our money? Can you afford a 82% tax hike?

Don’t buy the lies, don’t be fooled, Vote YES on Measure 4 to end unfair property tax . Keep it yours. Keep your property! Remember local is your pocket book!
