Do what is right for US

Bob McNamara

Upham

So, I listened to and read about Julie Fedorchak’s announcement to run for Congress. She certainly speaks well, is surely qualified, and is someone I can vote for. She intimates that she will fight for her constituents and for North Dakota. I’m for that.

The one thing I didn’t hear is that she will do what is right for the United States. After all, if she is running for the United States Congress (not a state or local position), you would think doing what is right for the U.S. would be the prime thing – the first thing out of her mouth.

Maybe that is the problem in Washington. All these people run to do what is right for their constituents, and thus for themselves so they can be reelected, and not what is right for the country. My guess is as a population we’ve somewhat lost putting country before self. North Dakota politicians included.

Anyway, how’s that Congress doing? I guess we should feel fortunate that they passed another short term funding resolution (the fourth) rather than actually do their job. Congress likes to say they are in charge of the purse strings. It sure seems they can’t handle that job. Add in that they still haven’t handled immigration nor the border nor funding for Ukraine and Israel. What do you call 535 politicians in Washington? Incompetent. Yea, ND included.
