As we forgive those who trespass against us

Dan Reinhard, Minot

I couldn’t get to sleep a few nights ago so I turned on the TV and watched a rerun of a late night game show. When the host, asked a contestant: “what would you do if you hit a parked car?” I was as startled as was the host when she answered: “Leave.” But later he said: “that was the number answer from 100 people interviewed.

Well, watching that show didn’t help with my insomnia because my vehicle also had a hit and run incident a few days prior on July 18th at the Dakota Square Mall. My wife’s blue Chevy Cruze was parked near the Scheels entrance on the west side of the building between 2:15 and 4:15 p.m. While inside watching the movie, “The Sound of Freedom,” someone was responsible for causing around $2,000 damage to her vehicle.

All licensed drivers should know that a hit and run accident is a serious crime and due to the extent of the damage done, any sober driver should have been well aware of the impact from their vehicle. I did contact the Minot PD and after given an accident report ID number, the officer said he would contact Mall Security to see if they had any video surveillance of the accident. It’s been over a week and I’ve had no response from the officer. I suspect the Mall does not have enough parking lot video cameras but who knows?

I am a disabled Vietnam veteran and I’ll assure you that I’ve witnessed more despicable acts by people around this country and the world than I wish to recount. I hope that Jesus will forgive me because I’m having a problem in “turning the other cheek…”

Starting at $2.99/week.
