Minot has spineless city council
Robert Timm, Minot
What a spineless City Council we have. The council room was filled to standing room only and when Council Woman Carrie Evans saw it she turned tail and ran giving the rest of the council a wonderful excuse that they didn’t want to vote without the full council. Councilman Pitner was also absent, but this was already known to the Mayor, and I would assume the rest of the council.
I hope you understand this, Carrie Evans did not like facing her constituents. Evidently she only wants to represent certain members of her constituency, not her full constituency much less the majority of her constituency.
Councilman Podrygula was the first to suggest they kick the can further down the road but everyone else followed suit. Not a single member of the council pointed out that Carrie Evans was not there because she left. Shame on the lot of them.
What about the packed room of constituents, many of which had made this their third trip to be heard? Did they hear the eight people give testimony as to why or why not to adopt new rules to the committee that has not been active sense the 1970s or to even dump the idea of this committee altogether? I think not.
The whole thing was a betrayal to the people of Minot and a travesty to the whole idea of a government by the people and for the people.
