Term limits was wrong decision

At least in the great State of North Dakota, the midterm elections are over. I believe the election outcomes to be the best for our State -except for term limits. Here is why. Most States throughout the country have legislatures that serve 12 months a year in consecutive years. As we are well aware, our legislators serve in a biennial term in a four month session each. If we total up the months that most legislators around the country can serve in eight years, that would equal 96 months. But for a North Dakota legislator to reach 96 months of service, he or she would have to serve for 48 years! This is not fuzzy math.

But the biggest concern I have is in the small population in many districts throughout North Dakota. I am relatively certain that in many of those areas, it is close to impossible to find a candidate able and willing to serve. Though I’m uncertain, I would suspect that many candidates run unopposed due to the sparse population. Despite the out-of-state interests, one size does not fit all…
