Time for Parents’ Bill of Rights

Dan Reinhard, Minot

After the newly elected governor, Glenn Youngkin from the Commonwealth of Virginia was announced, the song written by Angus and Malcom Young from the rock group AC/DC blared out: “Thunderstruck.” Those words reverberated across the country for all the Moms and Dads to hear loud and clear. We have had enough of the nonsense!

In that State, what the members of national teachers’ unions, school board members and elected officials failed the understand was a lesson that I learned many years ago: while traveling through the forests, never place yourself between a mama bear and her cubs…

I believe that our Governor, State Legislators with parents involved, should take note of what happened in Virginia and follow their lead in writing a Parents’ Bill of Rights. I know that we have great schools throughout our State, but who knows what the future in politics holds? To prevent what happened there and in several other States where parents were classified as domestic terrorists, a Bill of Rights might be the proper protective medicine. I won’t call it a Vax, but I do believe in Ben’s adage: “A stitch in time saves nine.”
