Sound familiar?

For those of us who grew up in the 50’s 60’s & 70’s we know what the cancel culture was even though it was recognized by different names; socialism and communism. We learned it in our World History Class! Not sure if its even taught anymore in school but that’s a discussion for another day.

If you look at Russia, Lenin’s first project was to tear down symbols of Russian History. All statues, emblems, and symbols of Russian History destroyed. Religious institutions were destroyed and replaced with atheism.

During Mao Zedong’s communist revolution in China it required the cancellation of past history and the subordination of its citizens to the collective identity of the communist state.

After its founding in 1948 North Korea became a closed society, canceled the past, and isolated itself from the world. It quickly became a totalitarian state, aided by Russian and China.

The people in each of these countries lost their freedom and heritage, while millions of others lost their very lives!

The book burning campaign in Nazi Germany was orchestrated by the German Student Union. Books targeted were authored by those viewed as subversive or as representing ideologies opposed to Nazism. Now we learn that Jeff Bezos and Amazon are banning books for undefined “Hate Speech.” Sound familiar?

President Reagan once said: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the blood stream. It must be fought for, protected and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend the rest of our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.” Amen!
