I have a question. Why is it that more people don't attend weekly church services. Seems that almost everybody I have talked to lately, regardless of denomination, tell me that attendance at their local church is declining.
I know, Covid comes to mind. And for some, if not all of us, this is a very real concern. People have died. So we all need to be cautious, and everyone who is should be commended for their efforts.
But I also think this trend was started before Covid became an issue. Seems like we go anywhere else we feel like. I know I sure do.
If I need pop, cigarettes, parts or whatever, I just hop in a vehicle and go. Put on a mask if I need to. With all the chaos in the world today, elections, race riots, COVID, and other natural disasters, we probably need God and His promises now more than ever.
And all the mess in Washington, regardless of which side of the fence you are on, is absolutely ludicrous. Why can't they figure out that they could accomplish so much more for the American people if they would all work together for the same common good of our nation.
Seems like they have all forgotten one of the commandments is to love your neighbor as yourself. Even the Founding Fathers saw the need for God. Quotes like "One Nation under God," and "In God We Trust," and "so Help me God," were all a part of their vocabulary and they took their duties seriously.
I can't help but wonder what their take would be on what our country has become. So even if you are the President of the U.S., Prime Minister of England, President of Russia or any other country for that matter, there is still only one supreme being.
And He won't be the Commander in Chief as much as He will be the ultimate Supreme Judge.
It would seem like we would all be better off if we could get our principles and actions more in line with God's will for His people.
So I believe being involved in a local church of a persons own preference would be a step in the right direction. It's even free, no admission fee and if you don't like it you are free to go to another one. And for those don't want to attend, they can do so virtually if they want to. And if some individuals choose not to participate at all, this is their choice and no one has the right to pass judgement. But I can't think of any show or performance here on Earth that could ever come close to what God has in store for all of creation.
We can hear all about it at our own local church, and we can also participate and be a part of the plan that God has in store for each and every one of us. Just a few thoughts.
