True cost of Weather Mod

Andrew Schultz, Minot

Here’s an odd disconnect: Weather Modification claims that the cloud seeding project costs Ward County $0.13 per acre. But, the North Dakota Atmospheric Resource Board says it costs $.40 per acre. It looks like they need to make up their minds.

Without the need for complicated studies and formulations, here’s the actual cost of weather modification to Ward County and all North Dakota taxpayers:

Since 2006, the Weather Modification Project has wasted $4,275,000 trying – and failing – to suppress hail in Ward County. That’s your money, and mine, gone forever. And, if they get the green light for another five years, they’ll burn through another $1,326,000 from Ward County, and $663,000 from the state.

With over $4 million spent, and nearly $2 million to go, it’s just too much money for something of little to no benefit. I’m voting NO on weather modification!
