A day off from politics, please
Mike Monson, Minot
As church goers, Lutherans are admittedly a pretty stoic bunch. Lutheranism has roots to Germany and Norway, countries whose people are characteristically stoic. That being said, it is probably safe to assume that most Lutherans don’t wear their political views on their sleeve.
That seems to be in conflict with the latest ELCA Social Statement that they are now a “sanctuary church body.” It seems as though every 2 years at the Church-wide Assembly there is a new social statement and the ELCA becomes more and more a political body.
This may be a slippery slope for the ELCA because there are always two opinions to every issue. You might please some people and alienate the next one.
Why not stick to the good news of the gospel and take a day off from politics on Sunday!
