Between Minot AFB, Grand Forks AFB and the North Dakota National Guard contingent we have well over 10,000 military personnel and dependents residing in North Dakota.

Their economic impact to state and communities exceeds a billion dollars. Besides their main duty of defending or country and keeping us safe 24/7 they have helped us during fires, storms and floods, volunteered for social activities such as the annual hostings of the needy and elderly during the Christmas holidays, meals on wheels and so on. Our military endures many hardships themselves but they always are there when needed and give even more.

So I feel that declaring at specific (how generous!!) three hour period at the State Fair “Military Appreciation Day” an embarrassing affront, a travesty.
