Another trip to the woodshed for Sen. Hoeven

Krisanna Peterson

Bismarck

This is not good news when I need to write a second letter to the editor regarding Senator John Hoeven.

I am outraged that Hoeven voted for Healthcare Procedural bill. I hope he realizes that you don’t need to follow all the Republicans. I learned early in life it’s good to be an outsider. Many people would call me unique and I say that is a compliment.

There was two other Republicans that voted no on this bill. There would have been three and this would not have passed. Hoeven could have been a hero and now I am left to worry about my family, my friends, my students, and my country’s future.

Senator Hoeven you must think on every decision about how this will affect your constituents. This is a prime example of what I learned in college in my communication course from NDSU called “Group Think.” According to Dictionary.com it means:

1. The practice of approaching problems or issues as matters that are best dealt with by consensus of a group rather than by individuals acting independently; conformity.

2. the lack of individual creativity, or of a sense of personal responsibility, that is sometimes characteristic of group interaction.

I remember my professor saying that we do not want “Group Think.” As I recall I remember many political science majors taking this course with me. I might suggest you learn more about “group think” before you vote again.

We are democracy! I sure hope you start voting for what North Dakota constituents want instead of listening to what your party wants. Your party does not know what is best for ND.
