Refugee resettlement means tough decisions for ND

The Burleigh County Commission has decided to continue accepting up to 25 refugees for resettlement in the county. Based on public sentiment voiced to commissioners prior to the vote, the anticipation had been the county would become the first in the country to reject refugee resettlement under authority granted in a presidential order. Instead, commissioners narrowly voted to allow resettlement. Cass and Grand Forks counties already had decided they would continue to accept refugees. A survey showing Minot-area residents largely feel good about their community is positive news. Sometimes the negative voices tend to be the loudest so it’s nice to know that most people don’t view the situation as all gloomy. The survey was conducted through Odney, which has been tasked by Visit Minot, Minot Area Development Corp. and Minot Area Chamber of Commerce to develop a One Brand campaign for Minot. Trinity Health Foundation helps needy families

The local community opened their hearts to a drive by the Trinity Health Foundation to put turkeys and other groceries on the tables of needy families this holiday season. The drive surpassed its goal and then some. “This year, Trinity Health Foundation received $11,470.09, or about $1,000 beyond our goal. This shows that the people in this area care about others and want to give back to make sure everyone is blessed during the holiday season,” said Al Evon, director of the foundation.
