Rock meets hard place

Minot’s school board was faced with deciding to mask or not to mask for the coming school year.

After more than a year of the debate, we’ve realized there is no right answer. Information from the CDC changes almost daily.

It seems COVID is spitting out more variants than we’d like to admit.

And the debate over wearing a piece of cloth over your mouth and nose is fiery to say the least.

Should it be?

No! But reality is, everyone has an opinion.

Welcome to the world of social media.

It makes us wonder how hard it would have been to pass a seat belt law currently.

As much as we hate to say it, the mask debate is political. School boards are elected to provide education, something we want politics as far away from as possible.

Highly recommending a mask is the right way for a school district; allowing parents to ultimately make the decision is probably the only way to go.

It’s just too bad that COVID became a fiery political hotspot.
