Welcome new Minot city manager Harold Stewart
It’s official. Minot has a new city manager.
Harold Stewart was hired as city manager when the council met at a special meeting on Friday. He’ll begin work on Dec. 28.
“My family and I are excited about the opportunity. We are grateful for the confidence of the council and community to give me the opportunity and I look forward to being there,” Stewart said via a phone connection.
Following a selection process, Stewart was one of three finalists for Minot’s city manager position.
Currently, city manager for Warrensburg, Missouri, a city with a population of 20,168 residents, he has familiarity with Minot and Minot Air Force Base. As a youth he and his family lived here when his father was stationed at Minot Air Force Base.
During an interview with the Minot City Council earlier this month reported by Jill Schramm, senior staff writer with The Minot Daily News, Stewart said he considers economic development to be one of this strengths. “I’ve been successful in economic development in areas that have struggled to have economic development,” he said at the interview.
Stewart also said he wants to be visible and engage in the community, and being out and talking and listening to people. He said he supports citizen involvement in public meetings and wants to hear from the public. He also believes in a team environment.
When he gets to Minot he said he’s ready to hit the ground running.
Stewart will move here with his wife, Andrea, and their six children.
We welcome Harold Stewart and his family to the Magic City.
