The United Way needs our help

We are charitable people in our region. We support good causes, our church needs, the essential needs of the less fortunate. It is in our nature. It is what best defines us and which puts our best foot forward. If you live in our region, this is something in which we should take great pride.

The United Way announced last week it needs our help.

Souris Valley United Way is nearing the end of the 2018 fall campaign, and is asking the community to help to reach the goal.

Danielle Rued, campaign coordinator, said the campaign has reached 63.9 percent of the goal with one more month to go.

Souris Valley United Way is seeing a decrease in donations while the needs of the community continue to grow, according to United Way officials. The decrease in annual giving will have a significant impact on the funding available to 24 local nonprofit programs that rely on support from the United Way. Contributions to Souris Valley United Way stay in the Minot community.

United Way-supported organizations provide resources and services to the community on many fronts. The work of the United Way is invaluable to the people of our region.

The time is running out to support the current campaign.
