70th reunion is something to admire

Earlier this week, 30-something graduates of Minot high schools met for a rare reunion, indeed.

Participants were from the class of 1947 and met for their 70th high school reunion.

Imagine that? In this day and age, that many folks over 80-years-old with a connection dating back seven decades opting to come together as old friends and classmates. What a tremendous – and rare – occasion this must have been.

Many people probably look at the concept of a 30th or 40th reunion as only mildly attractive. But 70? It’s hard to fathom how that could be anything but fascinating. Congratulations to all of those 1947 grads who came to town to celebrate with their old friends – probably longest time friends, to say the least. Organizer Donna Baker said that participants didn’t just come from the region or even North Dakota, but from other states as well. What a wonderful show of initiative.

Minot Daily News hopes the celebrants enjoyed their time together. They are an inspiration for the rest of us. May everyone who reads this enjoy a long, healthy life that permits them to one day reunite with old school friends – from 70 years prior!
