Reed Jens Jorgensen, 89, of Antler, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 1, 2026, with family by his side.
Reed was born on May 25, 1937, in Minot, to Viktor and Bessie (Reed) Jorgensen. He attended Minot Model School through the ninth grade, and as a young man, he delivered the Minneapolis Sunday Tribune in Minot for two years, an early sign of the work ethic that would define his life. In 1952, Reed's family moved to the farmstead south of Antler. Here, he graduated from high school in 1955. He went on to attend North Dakota State University, which led to the start of his lifelong career in farming.
In August 1959, Reed married Beth Howery, and together, they built a life rooted in hard work and devotion to family. They were blessed with three sons. On the third-generation family farmstead, they first raised dairy cows and later farmed small grains. Reed approached his work with great care and was known as a meticulous record keeper, holding himself to a high standard in everything he did. He was a man of many trades and there was nothing he could not fix or build. Reed and Beth retired from farming in 2002.
In retirement, Reed and Beth enjoyed many winter trips to Laughlin, Nevada, traveling in their motorhome and delighting in new friends with snowbirds from across the country. At home, Reed could often be found tinkering in his shop, where his patience and practical skill were always on display. Daily coffee with family and friends was a regular routine. Though he was hardworking, he was also fun-loving and he brought warmth and good humor to those around him. Above all, his greatest joy was his family.
Reed was deeply passionate about his town of Antler. He gave generously of his time, serving on many boards and community organizations, and he took great pride in helping his community thrive. His dedication leaves a lasting mark on the place he called home for more than seven decades.
Family: Reed is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 67 years, Beth; and his sons, Brian (Colleen), Dean (Boe), and Mark; and sister, Rebecca Jorgensen; grandchildren, Amy (Bradley) Davis, Stacey Morgel and Melisa (Tyler) Jorgensen and Cody Zaste (Honorary); eight great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren; and multiple step-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A man of quiet Christian faith, Reed will be remembered with gratitude by all who were blessed to know him. His family takes comfort in the life he lived and the love he shared.
Reed was preceded in death by: His parents, Viktor and Bessie; sister, Ruth Lytle; and brother, Rick Jorgensen.
