Scott Parish, 69, of Surrey, North Dakota, passed away on October 18, 2026.
Born in Watertown, South Dakota on March 1, 1957, Scott lived a life of service, dedication, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 28 years before continuing his work as a civilian contractor. His commitment to duty and responsibility was evident in both his career and the way he cared for his family.
Scott was known for being stubborn, determined, and fiercely protective of the people he loved. He wasn’t one for grand speeches or sentimental words, but his family never had to wonder where they stood with him. If you needed him, he was there. A phone call was all it took.
He found joy on the golf course and on his Harley with the open road ahead. While he carried himself with strength and independence, those closest to him knew the kindness behind it.
To his daughter, some of the most treasured memories are from childhood mornings before school. Scott made the best lunches, carefully braided her hair, and stood watch to make sure she got on the bus safely. These simple acts reflected who he was at his core: a father whose love was shown not through words, but through countless everyday actions.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Shelly Parish; daughter, Presley Parish; children, Alyssa (Ryan) Staggs, Lindsay (Wm Ryan) Sluder, and Trisha (Justin) Braaten; sister, Vinceen (Ron) Hanson; grandchildren, Nathanael Eaton, Rieley and Paxton Staggs, Gaige Roberts, Brecken and Canden Sluder, Jamison and Maddox Braaten; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him deeply.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Verdon and Lorraine Parish; sister, Kim Parish; brother, Mike Parish; in-laws, John and Darlene Dickman, and grandson, Hayden Staggs.
Scott’s legacy is one of service, strength, dependability, and love. Those who knew him were fortunate to have someone they could count on, and those who loved him will carry his memory with them always.
Visitation: Wednesday, November 4, 2026, from 5pm - 7pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home.
