On September 23, 2026, Kathy passed away peacefully at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was reunited with her beloved son, Arin. Kathy was born on June 11, 1954, in Stanley, North Dakota, to Freddie and Grace Marchand. She was raised and educated in Newburg, North Dakota. Following graduation, she lived in Bottineau and Watford City before eventually settling in Minot.
In 1979, Kathy was overjoyed with the birth of her son, Arin, who later blessed her with two beautiful grandchildren, Otto and Violet. Kathy began her career as a financial counselor at Trinity Health in 1997. During her many years of service, she helped countless individuals and families before retiring earlier this year.
Known affectionately by her family as “Aunty Camera,” Kathy was rarely without a camera in hand. She loved capturing family memories through photography and preserving them in her scrapbooks. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing bingo and attending scrapbooking workshops.
Kathy is survived by her mother, Grace of Newburg, North Dakota; her brothers, Clyde of Texas, Bruce (Nancy) of Coleharbor, North Dakota, and Tim of Fargo, North Dakota; her grandchildren, Otto and Violet of Minot, North Dakota; her nephew, Ryan (Kari) of Fargo, North Dakota, and their children, Matthew, McKenzie, and Grace; and her nieces, Jessica (Nathan) of Pinetop, Arizona, and Brooklynn of Benedict, North Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her father, Freddie; her son, Arin; and her brother, Corey.
