Clinton Stewart Axelson, loving son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at his Minot residence, after unexpected health complications.
Clinton was born on February 29, 1992, in RAF Lakenheath, England, to parents Brian and Leanne (Axness) Axelson. He was raised and educated in Berthold, ND, and was heavily involved in Bomber athletics in high school, playing football, basketball, baseball, and golf. One of his favorite memories was playing in the State "B" Boys Basketball Championship game in 2010. Clinton graduated from Berthold High School in May of 2010.
After graduating, Clinton enrolled at Minot State University. He thoroughly enjoyed playing in rec leagues and attending sporting events in his college years. He graduated from Minot State in the Class of 2015, earning a bachelor's degree in business.
Clinton began his career working at Don Bessette Motors, working as a service writer for several years. He later worked in various sales positions at different companies, until finding a more permanent role recently at Dakota Fluid Motion, doing oilfield sales.
In his free time, Clinton could almost always be found at the golf course. Golf was a lifelong passion of his, and he enjoyed traveling to various courses around the state, making many good friends and memories along the way. Clinton also loved fishing, especially at Lund's Landing on Lake Sakakawea. He also spent much time bowling, playing cornhole, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers – Go Pack Go!
Clinton will be remembered most for his kind and loving ways. He could always put a smile on anyone's face and was just so personable with everyone he met. He was a giver at heart and a one-of-a-kind friend. Clinton dearly loved his nieces and nephew and was the best uncle they could've asked for. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
Clinton is survived by: his parents, Brian and Leanne Axelson; siblings, Amanda (Eric) Neshem, Melissa (Anthony) Sodano, and Austin (Kilee Griffin) Axelson; nieces and nephew, Brooklyn, Madison, and Colton Neshem, and Baby Girl Sodano on the way in March; his girlfriend, Kristen Dionne and her daughter Chloe; his grandfather, Allen Christenson, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins, all who Clinton loved dearly.
Clinton was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Roy and Ila Axness, and Robert and Barbara Axelson; aunt and godmother, Sheryl Moen; uncles, Arlyn Axness and Doug Kvamme.
Clinton never ended a conversation or visit without saying “I love you.” May we all carry out his memory by living and loving in this same way.
