Butte and Minot
Mary Moseanko, 75, of Butte and Minot, died Thursday, August 20, 2026, in Trinity Hospital surrounded by her family.
Mary Frances French was born on November 19, 1950, in Los Angeles, California, to Dr. William (Bill) French and Myriel (Schram) French. She was raised and educated in Oxnard, California. The French family were very active members of the Oxnard Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She attended Newbury Park Adventist Academy where she graduated Class of 1968. Following her high school education, she attended La Sierra College to complete administrative classes and then graduated from Loma Linda University in 1971 with an A.S. in Medical Records Transcription. As a teenager, Mary worked at her father's dental practice as a Chairside Assistant, which gave her great experience later working for a doctor at Loma Linda Medical Center and then assisting the Principal of Newbury Park Adventist Academy.
Mary was joined in marriage to Perry Moseanko on June 22, 1975, in Oxnard, California. They made their home on the family farm in Butte, ND. They were blessed with two children; son John and daughter Lauralee. They operated the Moseanko Family Farm milking dairy cows, tending to beef cattle, farming acreage with multiple grains, and planting a huge 2-acre garden for produce. Mary could be found in the barn at milking time, on a tractor cultivating or making hay, in a combine harvesting, or in the family garden tending and/or harvesting produce. She spent countless hours in her kitchen canning and freezing produce from their garden for the winter months.
In 1990, Mary started working in Mandan as an Administrative Assistant for Job Service of North Dakota. She later transferred to the Minot Job Service branch where she became a Case Worker in the WIOA program, helping many individuals and students with job placement and/or attend college training programs. She loved her career and was very good at helping people expand their employment opportunities. She retired from Job Service of North Dakota in November of 2020. She was very proud of her 30 years of service with the State of North Dakota.
Mary was an ordained Seventh-Day Adventist minister and loved to bring the word of God to others. She had a passion for singing and had a beautiful Alto voice! She was often found leading song service and providing special music in many churches either solo, harmonizing with her daughter, or countless other singers. She enjoyed visiting hospitals and nursing homes to uplift the patients / residents in prayer to the Lord and signing an old hymn of praise. Her faith in the Lord always brought her peace.
Mary is survived by her husband of 51 years, Perry; children, John Moseanko of Butte & Minot, ND, Lauralee (Jason) Dammen of Burlington, ND; grandchildren, Carter Dammen and Berklee Dammen, and honorary grandson, Josiah Reiss; brother, Robert French of Reno, NV; brother-in-law, Rich (Kathy) Moseanko of LaVerne, CA; sisters-in-law, Janell Dowell of Plano, TX, Jeannine Phillips of Fresno, CA, and Debbie (Doug) Moseanko-Juhl of Middle River, MN; along with many nieces and nephews from both the French and Moseanko sides.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. & Mrs. Bill French; brother, Chip French; brothers-in-law Edwards Phillips and James Moseanko.
Funeral Service: Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Minot.
A Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.
A private burial will be held at the Butte Cemetery.
